I chose to make a tray because I wanted to make my mom something for her birthday
My inspiration is the nature of emotions. I had a ton of trouble cutting the block and printing. I tried overcoming the cutting and printing by skipping steps and just rolling paint on there with out cutting it. I really wish that I could back and do this project again, and if I could, I would not skip any steps, do a different design, use better blending colors, and cut the paper right. Our theme was kind of unicorn/unicorn guts. I guess the creepy bunny locker inspired us to try to make something creepier. It was really hard to get the stuff in the locker to be the way we wanted it to be. We used plaster for the hand, unicorn head, and unicorn horn, paint and paper for the backgrounds, paper and spay paint for the unicorn, yarn for the "intestines", and cotton balls for the cloud.
Inspired Ink- The original picture was an eye and it had a lot of scribbled circles that were layers until it had a lot of value. Mine didn't have very much value, because this was my least favorite piece, so I didn't spend as much time on it as I did in the zentangle. My process was I scribbled out the flower, and then I added green ink to it and used a calligraphy pen thing for it. Zentangle- I found it fun and sorta relaxing. I do think that zen matches this style. I drew the hand and the outline of the boxes and zentangles first, and then I colored everything in. Eye drawing- I didn't find it challenging to make an eye with ink, because ink is like pencil, just without being able to earase it. I included the eye by putting it under a magnifying glass.
The link to my inspiration is http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ick1hTwUwoc/Ux8zvU6x7VI/AAAAAAAAMfI/2tmx8qK4fwE/s1600/3.JPG . For my mediums, I picked collage and stencil/spray paint, because those are my two favorite mediums. It's similar to my inspiration because of the idea of using cards, but I made it my own by taking the suits names literally. I think what is most successful is the diamond, I really like that one, and in the future, I would use spray paint for all of them.
My mentor is Abby. We talked about other art classes and teachers. Their blog link is Abigail-apex-2016.weebly.com. What I find most interesting is that she visited Australia.
